Electronic Acts That Constitute Commercial Crimes
The use of highly advanced and easily accessible technology, which is widely available today, has certainly brought significant benefits to commercial activities when used properly. However, it also carries many risks and can give rise to legal issues that may amount to criminal offenses, including economic crimes, when misused. This is especially critical given that such activities are closely connected to personal security, information security, consumer privacy, and the integrity of markets against electronic extortion.
Electronic acts committed through digital means in commercial settings are unlawful behaviors carried out via smartphones, computers, and social media platforms. Among these acts are:
1. Forgery in commercial websites through the sale of fake or non-existent products.
2. Using stolen credit cards to complete fraudulent transactions.
3. Hacking and stealing financial data belonging to customers or bank accounts.
4. Money laundering via the internet, using e-commerce platforms as a front to transfer illicit funds into untraceable accounts.
5. Impersonating a company to deceive victims and obtain money.
6. Electronic extortion by threatening to disclose sensitive account information unless money is paid.
Conclusion
The use of electronic devices has become an unavoidable reality in light of digital transformation. However, the following measures must be adopted to reduce the impact of these harmful activities on commercial operations:
1. Raising the cultural and legal awareness of individuals and both public and private institutions.
2. Enhancing security measures and periodically auditing information systems.
3. Using advanced protection systems such as anti-virus software and firewalls.
4. Verifying customer identities before completing commercial transactions.
5. Promoting international cooperation to track perpetrators.
Finally, we wish everyone safety and security. May God protect you all.
